Advanced Academy Admissions
Financial Aid / Scholarships
The fees for attending the Advanced Academy for one semester can be viewed at the Office of the Controller (http://www.westga.edu/controller/index_4082.php). Please note that the academic year is made up of two semesters. Typical expenses include tuition, mandatory fees, housing, and a meal plan.
Since we are a state supported university, international students and students who live out of the state of Georgia are assessed a higher fee for tuition. The university offers a limited number of out-of-state fee waivers to students from other states and countries; therefore, it is important not to wait until the last minute to apply. (International students must earn a minimum TOEFL score of 79-80 in order to qualify for a waiver).
Financial Aid Options
HOPE Accel
This program is designed to provide participating high school students with financial assistance towards the cost of post-secondary coursework. In order to be eligible for Accel funds, a student must be a Georgia resident and enrolled in a public or private secondary high school which is accredited by a State-approved accrediting agency. Accel pays tuition, a portion of mandatory fees, and a $150.00 book allowance. Students must obtain the HOPE Accel Application from their high school counselor and submit it to the Academy every semester.
Scholarships
Advanced Academy students are eligible to apply for a limited number of need-based scholarships specifically for the Academy, as well as the Freshman Foundation Scholarship. They are also eligible to receive the UWG Presidential Scholarship. There is no application for the Presidential Scholarship. Students are automatically considered based on their SAT/ACT scores and GPAs. For more information about these scholarships and the need-based scholarship application, please click here.
