Effective Evaluation

Bonnie Hardy - Parent of Sam Hardy

I could tell at an early age that Sam was a very gifted child. Our family did what we could to provide enriching experiences for him, including participation in the gifted programs at his public school. I never felt that his abilities were being fully stimulated or challenged.  When the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Academy came, we took it with no hesitation. For the first time, Sam has to really work hard and study.  His instructors’ expectations are much higher than those of his high school teachers. This pushes Sam to meet those expectations. He has demonstrated growth and improvement in his study habits and personal responsibility.  The experience has helped Sam grow both academically as well as emotionally. This semester (Spring 06), Sam is carrying a course overload of 20 credit hours. During the summer of 2006 he will be participating in the Spanish Language study abroad program for four weeks in Mexico. He is intellectually stimulated and embraces the challenges that the more advanced coursework provides.

As a parent, I find comfort in knowing that the Academy provides a program that offers a balance of both freedom and structure. The staff, especially Laura Lamb, have been extremely helpful, supportive and compassionate. I always feel like I can call and get the information or help I need from them.

The Advanced Academy goes a long way toward meeting both Sam’s academic and personal needs.  My need as a parent to do whatever I can to help my child achieve his potential is also being met!
